We are looking for someone with at least a high school diploma (additional education in medical transcription preferred) and one year of experience as a pathology transcriptionist or in medical transcription. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of medical terminology, effective communication skills, and attention to detail.

Hours: 9:30 am - 6:00 pm

Days: Monday - Friday

Job Duties:

  • Perform final dictation entry formatting, including: microscopic description, final diagnosis and comment fields.
  • Assign appropriate pathologist to each case.
  • Document case holds generated by transcription.
  • Assign ICD codes on derm cases.
  • Edit fee codes.
  • Designate Cancer call and Special Event cases in CoPath.
  • Follow the laboratory procedures for processing, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Adhere to all quality control/quality assurance policies and procedures.  Document all quality control activities.
  • Identify problems that may adversely affect reporting of results.
  • Document all corrective actions taken.
  • Assist, when needed, in the proper storage and maintenance of all records.

EDUCATION:

Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent;

Some additional education preferred (medical transcription). 

KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of medical terminology, Effective oral and written communication skills via telephone, e-mail and in person.  Grammar and proofreading skills, Attention to detail and accuracy.  Knowledge working with patient and other types of databases.  Ability to take the initiative and work independently and within a team.  Customer Service driven.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum one year experience as a pathology transcriptionist or medical transcription experience.
