RATE OF PAY/SALARY: $21 per hour

  • Acts as the Orders Administrator in Centricity and reviews all referrals to ensure the patient is being sent to a service provider where their insurance is accepted and that all required information is on the referral including diagnosis, instructions, duration and maximum number of visits. 
  • After reviewing each referral, sends a copy of the referral to the service provider and includes a copy of the most recent office visit note and labs if so requested by the service provider. 
  • Maintains the list of service providers in EMR and ensures all demographic information is kept up to date. 
  • Maintains a list of insurances accepted by service providers and shares the list on a quarterly basis with each department. 
  • Fields phone calls from staff and service providers and resolves inquiries related to referrals and prior authorizations. 
  • Obtains prior authorization for specialty appointments or procedures, if requested to do so. 
  • Audits specialty provider schedules to make sure a referral is on file for the visit, if it is required by the patient’s insurance. 
  • Assists with the referral tracking process on a monthly basis, if requested. 
  • Exemplifies excellent customer service with patients, visitors, and other employees; shows courtesy, friendliness, helpfulness, and respect.
  • Consistently demonstrates respect for the capabilities, different cultures and/or personalities of internal and external customers.
  • Maintains and ensures patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Takes the initiative to proactively assist others
  • Maintains open and effective communication with providers and employees to ensure quality patient care.
  • Facilitates referral process by scheduling appointments (when needed) and requesting visit documentation when referral is complete
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • At least one year clerical experience in a health related field
  • Knowledge of data entry
  • Pleasant telephone manner and ability to work under pressure
