Overview of the Role:

IP House is looking for Investigators with creative mindsets who can think on their feet and are passionate about protecting our clients’ intellectual property as well as the safety of consumers. They’ll perform target research, conduct undercover buys, process evidence, prepare buy reports, and engage with suspected scammers and resellers to develop intelligence. This position requires in-office presence at our Erie, Pennsylvania location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Search online for sellers, capture images of listings, and research target identities

• Communicate with sellers under assumed identity via text, phone, email or message boards

• Conduct undercover test purchases, either directly or in coordination with third-party volunteers or outside investigative agencies.

• Receive, photograph, label evidence & create chain of custody documentation.

• Update tracking files & databases regularly.

• Draft detailed investigation reports and follow-up with clients

• Maintain high accuracy and attention to detail in all reporting activities

• Other tasks as assigned.

What You’ll Bring:

No investigation or undercover purchasing experience is required. On-the-job training will be provided for all aspects of the role. The ideal candidates will be hard-working, enthusiastic individuals with an exceptional ability to prioritize and reprioritize daily tasks.

Success depends on the following:

• Ability to follow detailed directions

• Strong verbal communication skills with ability to maintain composure during difficult conversations

• Ability to work well in a dynamic, fast-moving environment

• Ability to write detailed, comprehensive notes and reports

• Demonstrated proficiency in internet research and use of MS Office applications

Pay is $20/hour in a 40-hour week. In addition to competitive wages, we offer comprehensive health insurance, paid time off, a 401(k), and more.
