Description

The Team Supervisor is responsible for achieving the goals and program objectives of the program; supervision of team members; provide supervision of clients; maintain confidentiality; implement crisis intervention; assist clients to achieve their goals; assist client and family to achieve reunification (unless alternative placement is necessary); to adhere to the policies and procedures of the program, TDFPS, and the agency. The Team Supervisor may be instructed to work in other units, as needed, at the direction of their supervisor or on call. The job requires sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Requirements:

Education: High School diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s degree in a human service field from an accredited college or university preferred.

Experience: One year of direct care experience. Experience with crisis intervention, building rapport, and engaging children and youth in activities preferred. One-year supervisory experience preferred.

Functional: Oversee the physical care of the facility and team during the shift, the daily supervision, basic needs, medical and emotional care, and overall safety of clients in care. Responsible for the implementation of programming curriculum, Trauma Informed Care model, practice of Love & Logic methods and utilizing a team approach to crisis intervention while working with clients. Demonstrate the values that support positive youth development. Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license and be able to operate a multi-passenger vehicle. Must have a driving record, which is within the guidelines of the insurance underwriter.

Working Conditions:

Exposure to children with behavior problems, including possible physical aggression. Exposure to illness and blood. Extended walking and standing daily. Must always be physically able to use authorized crisis intervention techniques.

Policies and Procedures of Agency and Program:

• Complete all documentation as required by program in the required time frame
• Maintain required staff to client ratio.
• Clock in and out at beginning and end of each shift.
• Follow DFPS minimum standards and agency policies and procedures.

Deadlines:

• Complete incident reports and case notes within 24-hours. Notify supervisor of serious incidents immediately.
• Complete and maintain required training hours within time frame outlined in agency procedures.
• Take clients to appointments on-time.
• Meet all deadlines as outlined in DFPS minimum standards as well as agency policies and procedures.

Program Operations:

• Maintain necessary documentation on fiscal matters.
• Conduct house meetings.
• Attend and participate in shift change meetings and other staffing as directed by supervisor. Lead shift change meetings when the Supervisor is not present.
• Provide clients with opportunities to learn/practice skills to better prepare them for positive skills development, family reunification, or possible placement.
• Participate in planning and implementation of services, activities, and/or skills training for group and individual work.
• Guide staff to ensure compliance of all agencies, program, and licensing standards.
• Guide and oversee completion of program specific and agency-wide paperwork. Review all paperwork prior to submitting to Case Manager.
• Follow the routine as formally agreed upon.
• Provide clients in the home with all their basic needs.
• Provide a clean and safe living environment.
• Provide level of supervision to clients based on their level of supervision needed.
• Teach skills to clients to help them with day-to-day interactions.
• Perform any other duties as directed by Supervisor, Program Manager, or Director of Residential Services.

Youth Care and Support:

• Provide each client with a Youth Handbook and provide proper orientation.
• Collaborate with family and other support systems to advocate for clients and family.
• Collaborate with TDFPS and other caseworkers to support client.
• Collaborate with resources to support client’s individual needs and transition goals.

Personnel guidance:

• Model and guide staff on how to practice skills learned in training.
• Maintain consistency and teamwork on shift.
• Oversee skills development and provide feedback.
• Make required notifications as needed (i.e., law enforcement, DFPS hotline, medical professionals, etc.).
• Make daily assignments for staff on shift.
• Work with Behavioral Care Housing Supervisor to complete performance reviews.
• Initiate employee counseling as needed and review with Supervisor.
• Conduct interviews for Youth Care Specialist with Supervisor.

Community Relations

• Support and nurture volunteer services to provide new opportunities for clients.
• Document volunteer contributions, hours, and activities.
• Provide support and guidance to volunteers to ensure safe and productive activities for clients.
• Represent ACH in a professional manner at all times.
